SPOKANE, Wash. – The Whitworth women's soccer team earned a 3-0 victory over the visiting George Fox Bruins in Sunday afternoon's Northwest Conference contest.
Camryn Gardner and the Pirates (2-6, 1-3 NWC) back line had a strong performance, holding the Bruins (3-3-1, 1-3) to one shot on goal all match.
The first goal of the match came in the 37th minute as Kendall Sharp knocked a rebounded shot off Bruins goalkeeper Annalisa Klein into the back of the net. Annie Clark took the initial shot to get the play started.
In the 77th minute, Clark found Kaitlin Speer who put in her first collegiate goal to seal the match at 3-0.
Whitworth finished with the advantage in shots (14-7) and shots on goal (8-1). Isabelle Arends only needed to make one save in the win. Klein tallied five saves for the Bruins.
Up next, the Pirates head to Oregon to take on Pacific (Ore.) and Linfield.
