Cal Lutheran Shuts Out Whitworth

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – Cal Lutheran defeated the visiting Whitworth women's soccer team 3-0 in Friday night's non-conference matchup.  

The Pirates drop to 1-2 on the season. The Regals improve to 2-0-1.

Cal Lutheran got on the scoreboard in the 12th minute as Alexandra Fagerberg tapped in a cross from Trinity Martinez. The Regals struck again in the final seconds of the first half as Remi Miller sent in a cross from Darya Rasoli to give Cal Lutheran the 2-0 lead going into the break.

The Pirates attempted three shots on goal in the first half but were not able to get any by Cal Lutheran's goalkeeper Alexis Soto.

Rasoli found Isabella Veljacic to extend the Regal lead to 3-0 in the 69th minute. Rasoli finished with two assists on the night.

The Regals were efficient in their win as they scored on three of their six shots on goal. The Pirate offense was led by Brixiada Mendoza who attempted three shots, all on goal.

Whitworth will look to bounce back on Sunday at 11:00 am against Occidental College. The match will take place in William Roland Stadium at Cal Lutheran University.
