The Pirates (2-0) rolled to a 23-7 lead after one quarter and never looked back against the Wildcats (0-1).
Every Whitworth player was on the floor for at least 11 minutes. Three Pirate starters were able to play less than 15 minutes in the game as the Bucs led 42-16 at halftime and 67-29 after three quarters. The Pirates led by as many as 44 points in the final quarter.
Quincy McDeid scored all 12 of her points in the opening quarter to help Whitworth out to the big early lead. Smith scored nine of her points in the second period, including a pair of three-pointers. Brandner had ten of her points in the third.
The Pirate bench outscored the Wildcat bench 51-7.
Whitworth was hot from beyond the arc, making 14-29 attempts (48.3%) from long range. The Pirates only had a 35-33 edge in rebounding, but forced 25 JWU turnovers.
The Bucs will return to action next weekend, hosting Carroll (Mont.) and Concordia (Tex.) in the Whit Classic on Friday and Saturday.
