FOREST GROVE, Ore. – Camy Aguinaldo paired 16 points with 5 steals to lead Whitworth in a commanding 68-58 win over Pacific (Ore.) Friday evening.

Aguinaldo was one of four Bucs to score in double figures. Jordan Smith dropped in 11 points on 3-6 shooting from three, while Megan Dorney, and Sydney Abbott each added 10 points.

Ashley Jones scored 14 points and shot 4-8 from three for Pacific. Courtney Carolan joined Jones in double figures with 13 points.

Whitworth initially pulled away at the end of the first quarter, using an 11-0 run to take an 18-9 lead at the end of the period. Aguinaldo opened the run with two layups, which the Pirates followed with another easy basket from Courtney Gray and free throws from Madison Moffat. Alli Kieckbusch closed the run with a three, leaving the Bucs up 18-6 before a quarter-ending three-pointer from Liana Tanaka.

Pacific used the early part of the second quarter to pull itself back into the game, cutting the Pirates' lead to 26-22 with a second-chance basket from Charli Elliot. The Bucs responded with a 10-2 run to take a 36-24 lead into halftime. Five Pirates scored during the run.

The Bucs maintained their double-digit lead for much of the remainder of the game. Aguinaldo and Abbott each dropped in six points to help Whitworth extend its lead to 18 points in the third quarter.

Pacific battled in the fourth and cut the Pirates' advantage to 66-58 on free throws from Courtney Carolan. The comeback came too late though, and free throws from Aguinaldo sealed the Whitworth victory.

Whitworth made more than half of its shots from the floor for the second straight game, shooting 51% (26-51) overall. The Pirates held Pacific to 35.6% (21-59) shooting from the floor. The Bucs also shot 80% (12-15) on free throws. The Boxers made 66.7% (8-12) of their shots from the charity stripe. The Pirates outrebounded Pacific 41-24.
