SPOKANE, Wash. – Savannah Dickson retired the final nine batters in a row in her complete game as visiting Lewis & Clark College defeated Whitworth 3-1 in the finale of a Northwest Conference softball series on Monday afternoon at Diana Marks Field.

The Pioneers (12-22, 7-17 NWC) ended a 16-game losing streak to the Pirates (23-9, 18-4) that dated back to the 2015 season.

Frankie Warden led off the second inning with a home run, her fourth of the season, to give L&C a 1-0 lead.  The Pioneers took advantage of a Whitworth throwing error in the third to add a second run.  Emily Drevdahl's RBI single capped the two-run third for L&C.

Whitworth got a run back in the bottom of the third when Rheanne Lewis tripled with one out and scored on Kinsey McNaught's sacrifice fly.

The Pirates got a pair of hits in the fourth, but Dickon got Desi Graham to ground into a fielder's choice to leave two runners stranded.  Those were the final two baserunners of the game allowed by Dickson, who set Whitworth down in order in the final three frames.

Dickson (8-9) scattered five hits and did not walk a batter one day after she allowed eight runs in a 10-2 loss.  She struck out three Pirates.

Madelyn Carlson (9-6) allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits in four innings in the loss.  Drea Schwaier-Wolf threw three innings of perfect relief for the Bucs.

Whitworth will conclude the regular season next Friday and Saturday with a home series against Pacific University.
